Hi, Connie!

Wow! We love you too! We love hearing such awesome feedback from our LDG family!

That's such a bummer that your parents are not allowing you to date! I have a big crush on Toby, our neighbor's Golden Retriever, and if I couldn't hang out with him every day, I'd be so sad. =(

Buddha has a saying that applies to your dilemma:

"The greatest prayer is patience."

Parents can be difficult to deal with sometimes, especially when it comes to dating! And I don't think that changes as you get older because Minnie is an adult, and her parents are always bugging her about the fact that she's too busy to date ! But the reason why they freak out is because they love us and want the best for us. Maybe your parents are afraid that you're growing up too fast and that the responsibility of dating or having a boyfriend might be overwhelming. Like with anything that matters in our lives, dating and having a boyfriend can take up a lot of your time, and piling that on top of school, extra-curricular activities, chores (don't forget the time you spend hanging out with your pals!) would require you to do a serious balancing act so that nothing falls behind!

The best way to handle every conflict is to talk about it. Talk to your parents in a very calm, mature way about why you feel you're old enough to date and address all the fears they have about it. Maybe you can come to a compromise, like being able to have a date for all the special events at school as long as they can meet the boy up front. If there's a boy you really like now, ask your parents if you can invite him over as a friend to do homework so that they can get to know him. They'll see that he's a good person, that they can trust you together, and maybe it will change their mind.

Best of dragon luck to you, Connie!
Keep in touch and let us now how it goes!
"Hopefully we will see you in Vegas!"

Love, harmony, and dragon Zen,  B.B.
