hi, b.b.!
just saw u guyz at Season's Best! U guyz rock! I also got to meet the artist cyndi caluya! yah - she's really cool 2! Love ur stuff!
i visited ur site & saw u had an advice column & i wanted 2 write in. i'm really getting sick of my frenz at school. they're so fake. they care more about what they look like and what other people think. they started to make fun of me bcuz i do my own thing & i don't alwayz want 2 do what they do. they don't like the way i dress n they don't like the music i listen to. i want to fit in but i want people to like me for me. will this get better?

Aloha, Justine!
Thanks for writing in! So glad you had fun at Season's Best! It always means so much for us to see you all in person!
That's a real bummer to hear that you're having problems with your friends. The middle school years are always awkward when it comes to friends because everybody is changing and trying to figure out where they "fit in". Some people think that it's easier to just go with the crowd.

You are actually quite lucky that you know who you are, Justine! You're not hurting anybody and you're okay having your own thoughts, doing your own thing, and being unique. It can get lonely being true to yourself, but if you don't honor yourself first, you won't have true friends who like you for you. And -trust me- you will find friends who will like you exactly because of who you are!
I know you are disappointed by your friends, but you must try your best not to be too hard on them because they are trying to figure out who they are too. Not everyone has a strong sense of themselves, so try your best to be patient with them, even if they do tease you sometimes about your choices. In the meantime, you can find all kinds of friends via Facebook and Myspace just by clicking on your shared interests! The world is so big, Justine, that you are definitely not alone and you're in no danger of being alone!
Go on and show your true inner dragon, Justine! Keep in touch!
Lotsa' blessings, luck, peace, and dragon zen, B.B.
